How BudAbout verifies what it publishes

BudAbout is published by the BudAbout Editorial Team as an organization — deliberately without personal bylines. The team is led by a former cannabis laboratory analyst: certified in analytical testing, licensed in cannabis extraction (NJ/PA), with HPLC and GC-MS bench work in ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory environments. That background sets the standard for how we explain lab testing and read producer labels — it does not mean BudAbout lab-tests products, and we never imply it does.

BudAbout sells nothing: no cannabis, no delivery, no advertising placements from dispensaries we cover, no affiliate links to any shop. Nobody we write about pays to appear, and nobody can pay to be removed.

Every dispensary in our directory is matched against New York's official records — the OCM dispensary verification page and the state's active-license dataset — before it appears, and each listing carries the license number we matched. An automated weekly re-check compares our directory against the state's list and flags any drift, in both directions: shops that lose their license and newly licensed shops we don't cover yet.

Delivery information follows a stricter rule, because it changes fastest: a service appears on our delivery pages only when the business itself is on the state's list, and its coverage areas, minimums and fees are recorded from the operator's own published statements — with the date we checked shown on the page (most recently August 24, 2026). We verify the license; coverage claims remain the operator's own, and we label them that way.

When a widely-searched delivery name does NOT appear on the state's lists, we publish exactly that — the dated fact of what the state's own records showed — and never a legal conclusion about the business.

No effect or health claims: we describe aroma, flavor, appearance and chemistry only. No potency claims of our own: THC and cannabinoid figures are producer-reported and labeled as such. No medical or legal advice: legal explainers are general information. No pay-to-play: ratings and reviews cannot be bought, and our product checks are on-camera visual and sensory inspections, not lab tests.

If anything on BudAbout is wrong — a closed shop still listed, an outdated delivery minimum, a license that changed status — tell us through the contact page and we will re-check it against the state's records and fix it. Corrections that change a fact update the page's visible "checked" date; we don't quietly bump dates without re-verifying.
